This is a talk that i gave sometime ago at the National Teachers Conference that was organized by the Sathya Sai Group of Institutions at Muddenahalli, Karnataka. The theme of the conference was ‘Value Education’.

It was January 1985. I was sitting with Swami Achalanandaji, a monk who was then living at the Ramakrishna Institute of Moral & Spiritual Education in Mysuru and discussing the qualities of an ideal student and that of an ideal Teacher (Guru). The air around the country is already filled with election fever. Parties are scrambling to form alliances or sometimes break them.
